About Us

The Chowan Arts Council began operation in Edenton on September 21, 1976. We  moved to 112 West Water Street in April of 2019. Special thanks to our Friends of the Arts Campaign, we were able to purchase the building. This is proving to be an excellent location for locals and tourist alike. “Your Community Arts Center” is just that — a community place where you can enjoy art and good fellowship.

Here, you will find beautiful wall art for sale as well as functional art in the form of pottery, jewelry, wood work, metal sculptures and many other unique things. We also feature locally knitted items such as scarves and children’s sweaters.

The Chowan Arts Council is a member-supported, non-profit organization whose mission is to sponsor, encourage, and create opportunities for the participation in — and appreciation of — the visual, literary, and performing arts in Chowan County. Your Community Arts Center provides a forum for display and performance of art, encourages local artistic expression, and fosters community participation through the arts.

And “three cheers” for our volunteers, for it is through their efforts that we are able to be open six days a week!

We encourage you to visit the gallery often. We hang fresh art pieces almost every week. Please feel free to contact us if you have any suggestions or questions about CAC.

Thank you for your continued support.
